Amaechi quits APC, accuses party of plotting with INEC to hijack 2027 elections

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amaechi made the announcement on Wednesday during the unveiling of the interim executive of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor revealed he resigned from APC on Tuesday night and expressed surprise that the party had not expelled him despite his previous warnings to stop inviting him to meetings.
He accused the ruling APC of working in alliance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hijack the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi said the current state of the country demands more than just a change of government, stressing the need for a broader national movement.
“Nigeria is completely destroyed. People can’t eat, can’t buy food, there’s no money. Inflation is at its peak. And the federal government is busy trying to hijack the election with the help of INEC,” he said.
He added that the new effort was not merely about politics but about mobilizing Nigerians to reclaim governance themselves.
