Amad trolls Arteta after Man United stun Arsenal

Amad Diallo has taken a pointed swipe at Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach after Manchester United’s dramatic 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Using social media, he underlined what he sees as the Gunners’ growing over-reliance on set-pieces.

“Your only hope is a corner”

Shortly after full-time, Amad responded to a pre-match post predicting a heavy Arsenal win by writing: “Your only hope is corner,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

He followed it up with “Be humble KID,” alongside a full-time graphic from United’s victory.

The post landed just minutes after Matheus Cunha curled home a stunning late winner, cancelling out Mikel Merino’s equaliser that had come moments earlier from a corner kick.

Arsenal’s set-piece dependence

Arsenal again posed their biggest threat from dead-ball situations, a theme that has become increasingly familiar this season.

Of their 42 league goals, 26 have come from set-pieces, the highest total across Europe’s top five leagues.

While that efficiency has kept them competitive, their open-play output has dipped. Bukayo Saka has failed to score in his last 13 appearances in all competitions, Viktor Gyökeres has not scored a non-penalty league goal in 11 games, and Gabriel Martinelli is also without a Premier League goal in 13 outings.

Leandro Trossard and Noni Madueke have similarly struggled for end product.

Carrick unlocks Amad’s strengths

Amad has been one of the clear beneficiaries of Michael Carrick’s interim reign. The Ivorian has now delivered strong performances against both Manchester City and Arsenal, operating in a more natural wide role rather than as a wing-back.

Carrick has also reshuffled United’s attack, using Bryan Mbeumo centrally and leaving high-profile striker Benjamin Šeško on the bench, a move that has paid dividends in back-to-back statement wins.

United gaining momentum

The victory lifted United into fourth place, a point above Chelsea and two clear of Liverpool, with no European or domestic cup distractions for the rest of the season.

Carrick played down talk of the top four afterwards, stressing focus and discipline.
