Alex Iwobi’s family dismisses alleged knife attack on player

Alex Iwobi’s father has dismissed reports claiming the Fulham midfielder was the victim of a burglary, describing the story as entirely false.

Initial claims suggested the Super Eagles star had been attacked at knifepoint following Fulham’s 3-1 win over Burnley, with valuables allegedly stolen. However, those reports have now been dismissed as misinformation.

Father issues clarification

Speaking in response to widespread speculation, Chuba Iwobi confirmed there was no incident at his son’s residence.

“Alex is fine, and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house,” he said.

He further revealed that the midfielder had already travelled to Turkey to join the Nigeria national team camp ahead of upcoming international friendlies.

Chuba also expressed frustration over the circulation of false claims, noting that he had received numerous calls from concerned individuals.

“It’s so annoying that a person can actually spread such falsehoods just for a few clicks,” he added.

Focus shifts back to football

The clarification comes at a time when Iwobi is enjoying a solid campaign at club level, playing a key role in Fulham’s push for a potential European qualification spot.

The 29-year-old was also recently recognised for his off-field contributions, earning a place on the Football Black List alongside notable figures in the game.

With the situation now clarified, attention returns to his international duties, as Nigeria prepare for friendly matches against Iran and Jordan in a Turkey mini-tournament.
