“After capturing them, please don’t kill them” — Wife of missing bandit appeals to Nigerian military

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the alleged wife of a missing suspected bandit named Muhammad made an emotional appeal to Nigerian soldiers amid ongoing security operations in the country.
Wife of missing bandit sends emotional message
The woman’s message comes amid increasing concerns over extrajudicial killings during anti-banditry operations.
Addressing her husband directly, she said, “Oh, my beloved Muhammad, the love of my life. If you are alive, may Allah grant that we meet again. If you are no longer alive, may Allah curse the security operative who killed you.”
Call for humane treatment of suspects
The woman urged the military to exercise restraint in dealing with suspected bandits. “If you find our men involved in robbery or any wrongdoing, please do not kill them. Once you have captured them, killing them is also wrong. Please stop killing people after arrest,” she said, stressing that suspects should face proper legal procedures instead of being executed.
Her plea highlights growing concerns among Nigerians over the conduct of security forces and the need for accountability.
The viral video has sparked online debates, with many Nigerians calling for strict adherence to due process and legal justice.
The incident underscores the ongoing tension between security operations and human rights concerns in parts of the country affected by banditry.
