AFCON 2025: Super Eagles camp swells to 15 as Iwobi, Onyeka, Bassey, Onuachu land in Cairo

The Super Eagles’ camp in Cairo has swelled to 15 players following the arrival of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka and Paul Onuachu as Nigeria continue preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The four new arrivals joined Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Amas Obasogie, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Igho Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi and Zaidu Sanusi, giving head coach Eric Chelle a stronger working group in camp.
Focus on Egypt friendly
Nigeria are scheduled to face Egypt in an international friendly on Tuesday, a key test designed to sharpen match fitness and allow the technical crew assess options ahead of the tournament.
The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C of AFCON 2025 alongside Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda, with progression likely to hinge on early consistency.

Nigeria will open their campaign against Tanzania on December 23 at the Complexe Sportif de Fes, face Tunisia on December 27, and conclude the group stage against Uganda on December 30.
Camp momentum builds
Players already in camp have settled into training routines, enabling structured preparation as more squad members are expected to arrive before midnight, pushing the team closer to full capacity before the Africa Cup of Nations begins.
