AFCON 2025: “I don’t do this” – Bovi reacts to Super Eagles loss to Morrocco

Nigerian comedian, Bovi has reacted strongly after the Super Eagles’ AFCON match against Morocco, calling out the team over commitment, focus, and distractions.

In a viral video that has since sparked heated debates online, Bovi warned players not to report for national duty if they are not mentally and emotionally ready to give everything for Nigeria.

In his words, he said:

“Don’t come to the Super Eagles if you’re not ready to give everything for the nation. If the NFF delays your payment, let it go.”

He went further to blame social media and excessive praise for affecting players’ concentration, comparing Nigeria’s approach to that of top football nations.

“Social media has distracted you all, and the praise got to your heads. When Argentina were preparing to play us four days before, none of their players were active on social media.”

The comedian also described football as a game that brings people of different religions together, regardless of their differences, stressing the need for unity and sacrifice when representing the country.

His comments came in the aftermath of the Morocco game, which left many fans questioning the team’s mindset and overall commitment.

As expected, Nigerians took to social media to share mixed reactions. One commentator wrote, “Easy to talk when you’re not the one risking injury,” while another argued, “Players deserve to be paid. Patriotism doesn’t pay bills.”

Bovi’s outburst has once again reignited the long-running debate over what it truly means to wear the Super Eagles jersey.
