ADC is deceiving us, I’ll stand with Peter Obi in 2027 — Datti Baba-Ahmed

The 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Datti Baba-Ahmed, has criticised the opposition coalition recently formed under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying it is deceiving Nigerians by claiming it can rescue the country from underdevelopment.
Baba-Ahmed, who was Peter Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election won by President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made it clear that his loyalty remains with Obi and the Labour Party.
“They are deceiving us,” Baba-Ahmed said on Friday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Although Obi has recently shown signs of identifying with members of the ADC coalition, including political heavyweights like David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir el-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola, Baba-Ahmed expressed hope that the former Anambra governor would stick with the LP as its flag bearer in 2027.
“I’m in the Labour Party. I’m a Peter Obi man. I still want Peter Obi to come back to the Labour Party and contest the 2027 election,” he stated.
When asked if he would be open to serving as a running mate again, Baba-Ahmed said: “If Nigeria is still around and there is an electoral system to follow. My love for Nigeria is undying, and I would appropriately associate with the group and individuals that are like-minded to restore Nigeria.”
He went further to say that there are only two individuals he would consider deputising.
“The first one has not said anything. The second one is Peter Obi. I’m always with Peter Obi until he decides not to,” he affirmed.
