Watson’s first major role outside of the Potter franchise was in Ballet Shoes (2007), and she also voiced The Tale of Despereaux (2008). Emma Watson Biography

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris, to English lawyers Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. Watson resided in Maisons-Laffitte, near Paris, until she was five years old, when her parents split.
She relocated to England to live with her mother in Oxfordshire and spend weekends at her father’s home in London.
After relocating to Oxford with her mother and brother, she attended the Dragon School until 2003. She aspired to be an actress since she was six years old, and she studied singing, dancing, and acting at Stagecoach Theatre Arts’ Oxford branch.
Career
Watson began acting professionally in 1999, after auditioning for a role in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001). She was cast as Hermione, one of Harry Potter’s closest pals, who is intelligent and sensible.
The film was a box-office success, and Watson returned in the franchise’s subsequent films: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).
After the Potter films ended, Watson began to seek more mature roles. Her first notable role came in the drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), where she played a high school senior who befriends a freshman struggling with serious depression.
She then participated in the criminal drama The Bling Ring (2013), the historical thriller The Colony (also known as Colonia; 2015), and the science fiction thriller The Circle (2017). These films had modest box-office success, but Watson scored another big hit with the live-action Disney rendition of Beauty and the Beast (2017).
In 2019, she played Meg March in Greta Gerwig’s critically acclaimed adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s famous children’s book Little Women.
Watson pursued a college degree while still working as an actress. In 2009, she started attending Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She took time off as needed for filming and also spent a year at the University of Oxford. Watson earned her bachelor’s degree in English literature from Brown University in 2014.
That year, she was named a United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador. She advocated for women’s rights and gender equality. From 2016 until 2020, Watson hosted Our Shared Shelf, an online feminist book club that read and discussed works by and about women.
In 2021, several claims arose claiming that Watson was engaged or retiring from acting. Watson and her representatives denied the reports; she later dismissed the conjecture as sensationalism and attributed her relative public absence to ongoing social alienation amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, Watson reunited with several Harry Potter film cast members for an HBO Max special titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
Watson’s modelling career began in 2005 with a Teen Vogue picture session, making her the magazine’s youngest cover model. Three years later, the British press reported that Watson would replace Keira Knightley as Chanel’s face, but all sides refuted the claims.
Following months of speculation, Watson revealed in June 2009 that she would be the face of Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2009 campaign, for which she was paid an estimated six figures. She also starred in Burberry’s 2010 Spring/Summer campaign, which included her brother Alex, artists George Craig and Matt Gilmour, and model Max Hurd.
In February 2011, Dame Vivienne Westwood presented Watson with the British Elle Style Icon Award.. In March 2011, Watson announced that she had been chosen as the face of Lancôme, continuing her role in fashion advertising.
