Abike Shugar breaks silence on painful movie experience that led to her fall out with Toyin Abraham
Social media influencer Olawuni Oluwapelumi Abike, popularly known as Abike Shuga, has opened up about her reported fallout with Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham.
Abike, who gained recognition after featuring in Malaika, shared her experience in a trending video that has sparked widespread reactions online.
She claimed the issue began while she was with Toyin during the film’s production, when she noticed the actress promoting Ada Omo Daddy by Mercy Aigbe despite both movies being scheduled for release around the same period.
According to her, she questioned the move and was told it was acceptable if the person involved was close.
During that period, Abike said her team informed her that Funke Akindele had excluded her from a PR package due to her involvement in Malaika.
She added that she reached out and indicated she was still available to participate, then proceeded to share the content based on that earlier understanding.
Explaining what followed, Abike said she faced backlash from Toyin after posting the promotional video online.
She alleged that she was instructed to delete all Malaika-related posts from her page, and that she was blocked and unfollowed.
“I didn’t just decide to delete them on my own, she started raining curses on me and told me to delete them” she added, while speaking on the situation.
She also revisited her experience on Ijakumo, alleging she was paid ₦50,000 for her role, only to later discover her scenes were removed.
Abike further claimed that she and other content creators were invited to the premiere without knowing their scenes had been excluded.
Comparing experiences, she said Funke Akindele paid between $600 and $800 for promotional work, describing it as more structured.
Reacting, Toyin Abraham maintained that she paid Abike ₦500,000 for Malaika and ₦50,000 for two Ijakumo scenes, adding that the director made the final decision to remove them.
