Abia was not affected by national power shortage — Governor Alex Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has stated that the state was unaffected by the recent power shortage experienced across parts of the country, attributing this to the state’s control over key electricity assets.
Speaking on the issue, Otti explained that a significant portion of Abia’s power infrastructure falls under the state’s authority, allowing it to maintain electricity supply despite challenges elsewhere.

“I’m sure you are all aware of the recent power shortage, but Abia State was not affected because a whole part of our power asset is within our authority. This shows that we are making real progress,” the governor said.
He further revealed that the state is adopting innovative approaches to energy generation, including the conversion of organic waste into power.
According to him, waste disposal efforts will now serve a dual purpose by contributing to sustainable energy production.
“All the organic waste we are disposing of will be converted into energy to power many places,” Otti added.
