“A whole human being can stand inside it” — man raises alarm over dangerous pothole in Bayelsa
A resident in Bayelsa State has raised serious concern over a large pothole on a major road in Nembe, warning that it poses a significant risk to motorists and pedestrians.
Residents warn of Imminent accident on Nembe road
The man, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, described the pothole as unusually deep and wide, stating that it has worsened over time due to neglect and heavy usage.
According to him, the road serves as a key route for daily commuters, making the hazard even more dangerous.
“This pothole right in the middle of the road here in Nembe will definitely cause a big accident if nothing is done about it. Just look at the size of this hole — a whole human being like me can stand comfortably inside it,” he said.
He explained that the depth of the pothole makes it nearly impossible for drivers to navigate safely, especially at night or during rainfall when visibility is reduced.
Call for urgent government intervention
The resident called on the Bayelsa State Government to urgently intervene and repair the road before it leads to a tragic incident.
He stressed that continued neglect could result in severe damage to vehicles and potential loss of lives.
“If any vehicle mistakenly enters this kind of hole, it will lead to a very serious accident. We are calling on the government to fix this road as soon as possible before something terrible happens,” he added.
Similar complaints about poor road conditions have been reported in parts of Bayelsa in recent years, with residents repeatedly urging authorities to prioritize infrastructure maintenance.
