A Nigerian military officer has stirred reactions online after sharing his views on voting and leadership ahead of the 2027 general election, urging citizens to choose the right leaders.

In a viral video, he stated that members of the military do not participate in voting, but the leaders elected by civilians ultimately give them instructions to follow.

According to him, leadership choice affects everyone, including security personnel who are bound to carry out lawful orders from elected authorities.

He further advised voters to prioritize character and humanity over publicity or popularity when selecting their leaders.

“I no say make una no vote for who you like, but I abeg, vote for the right person.
You know what it is? Now, we [the military] do not vote, but anybody wey una vote, na him go give us order wey we go follow otherwise watimagbo.
So if you want to vote, vote for leader wey no dey in love of money, but they are in love of justice. Vote for a leader wey no like publicity but he likes humanity so that everybody go…”
