2027: Tinubu defeats Stanley Osifo to emerge APC presidential candidate amid security concerns

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has defeated his challenger, Stanley Osifo, to emerge the presidential candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections amid security concerns

Tinubu reportedly secured 10.99 million votes to defeat Osifo, who polled 16,504 votes in the APC presidential primaries conducted across 8,809 wards nationwide.

The results emerged during the ongoing national collation of the presidential primaries at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

APC governors from 31 states, alongside party coordinators and collation officers, reportedly presented the results to the Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim.

While Tinubu reportedly dominated all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), winning 100 percent of the votes in most of them, Osifo recorded notable votes in states such as Niger, where he scored 5,248 votes, Kano with 2,675 votes, Lagos with 1,186 votes, Abia with 1,007 votes, Oyo with 929 votes, Benue with 779 votes, and Nasarawa with 768 votes.

With the APC presidential ticket now secured, attention is expected to shift toward preparations for the 2027 general elections and possible opposition candidates.
