2027: “It will be a curse on Ndigbo to support APC without Nnamdi Kanu release” – Cleric warns

Former Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Eugene Ogu, has warned that backing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) without securing the release of pro-Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu amounts to a curse on the Igbo people.
Ogu’s statement comes as some South-East political leaders recently endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
He strongly condemned the move, saying it does not serve the interest of the people.
The cleric criticized political leaders in the South-East for failing to demonstrate genuine commitment to the welfare of their people, particularly in securing the release of Nnamdi Kanu, who remains a symbolic figure for many in the region.
He also referenced a recent initiative by the Katsina State government, which released 70 convicted bandits as part of peace-building efforts. The move has drawn criticism from across the country.
Urging Igbo people both at home and in the diaspora to reject the endorsement of Tinubu, Ogu said:
“I am calling on all Igbo associations, professionals, men, women, traders, students, youths, and transporters, at home and abroad, to vehemently disassociate themselves from that embarrassing endorsement of Tinubu for a second term by sellout politicians in the South-East.”
