2027: “I’m sure if I go back, I must have found my feet” — Ebonyi APC senator appeals for support after past failure

Ebonyi South Senator, Prof. Okorie Ani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has appealed to the people of Ebonyi State to support his bid for re-election to the Senate in 2027.

Ani made the appeal while reflecting on his performance during his first term and acknowledging that some of the things he had hoped to accomplish remained undone.

The senator attributed some of the limitations to his circumstances when he first assumed office, describing himself as a university professor and teacher who did not come into politics with significant financial resources.

According to him, his background as a teacher meant he had to adjust to the realities of political office and gradually establish himself.

He said his limited ability to achieve some of his objectives should not necessarily be interpreted as a lack of commitment, noting that he had been working to find his feet since entering the Senate.

Ani expressed confidence that a second term would give him the opportunity to build on his experience and achieve more for his constituents.

“I am sure if I go back, I must have found my feet,” he said.

Appealing directly to his constituents, the senator asked for their “total support” ahead of the 2027 election.

He also urged his supporters to remain united and avoid actions that could undermine his chances of securing another term in the Senate.

“I need your total support. Let there be no sabotage,” Ani said.

The senator’s appeal comes as politicians across the country begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with incumbents expected to campaign on their records while seeking renewed mandates from voters.

For Ani, his message to Ebonyians appears to centre on giving him another opportunity to use the experience gained during his first term to pursue the goals he says remain outstanding.
