2027 Election: “APC wants to make Tinubu the only candidate” – Dele Momodu

Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to make President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the only candidate on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, Momodu dismissed the APC’s claim of having the backing of 31 governors, stating that the number means little to the opposition.
He further claimed that if an election were held today, the ruling party would lose.
Momodu also criticized the conduct of the recent Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections, saying the situation reflected desperation on the part of the ruling party.
According to him, authorities imposed strict measures during the election period.
“Just one election in a small city like FCT, they had to declare a curfew, and the minister of the FCT became the IGP, personally supervising polling stations across the city.”
He further alleged that the APC is working behind the scenes to weaken political competition ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The APC is trying to make sure that President Tinubu is the only candidate on the ballot. They are trying to manoeuvre, but Nigerians are wiser than them. We are not worried or panicking in the ADC,” Momodu said.
