2027: Defecting to APC will not give you automatic ticket – Wike to Gov Fubara and new defectors to ruling party

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has cautioned political actors that aligning with the All Progressives Congress or declaring support for President Bola Tinubu does not automatically secure a second-term ticket.
Wike gave the warning during a political engagement in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State as part of his ongoing consultations across the state.

He was received by the council chairman, Chidi Lloyd, traditional ruler Sergeant Awuse, and other party leaders.
The former Rivers State governor stressed that support for Tinubu has already been settled politically and should not be used as a basis for ticket allocation.
He maintained that loyalty to the president alone would not guarantee automatic nomination for any elective position.
“The issue is not wether you are supporting Tinubu. That one, we have taken tops long time ago so Tinubu issue is not an issue again. Nobody should come and tell me I am for Tinubu, on your mandate we shall stand. Who is not for Tinubu in Rivers state? That cannot give you any ticket oo!” he cautioned.
His remarks come amid recent political realignments in Rivers State, including the defection of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and others to the ruling party, weeks after a political clash and subsequent reconciliation between Wike and his successor.
