2027: Atiku breaks silence on reports he stepped down for Peter Obi in presidential race

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports claiming he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race in favour of Labour Party former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The reports alleged that Atiku, who was the PDP presidential candidate in 2023, had stepped aside for Obi and even agreed to support a one-term presidency for him in the interest of regional balance.
However, Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, has described the claims as false and misleading.
Reacting on Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the report on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote bluntly:
“Fake news: Not on the menu!”
The denial has triggered fresh reactions online, with supporters of Atiku and Peter Obi debating the 2027 permutations and possible political alliances.
The development is also coming amid reports that Peter Obi is planning to formally join the ADC, further fueling speculation ahead of the next general election.
With 2027 still some distance away, political calculations appear to be heating up, and Atiku has made it clear he is not stepping down for anyone.
