2026 WCQ playoffs: Super Eagles camp grows to 18 as training kicks off in Rabat

Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff against Gabon have gathered steam, with four more players joining the Super Eagles camp in Rabat.

Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Raphael Onyedika have checked in, increasing the number of players in camp to 18.

They join the earlier group of 14, which includes Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, William Troost-Ekong, Benjamin Frederick, Chidozie Awaziem, Amas Obasogie, Stanley Nwabali, Semi Ajayi, and Ademola Lookman.

Training begins in earnest

Head coach Eric Chelle supervised the team’s first training session on Monday evening at the Institut Royal de Formation des Cadres in Rabat as the squad began tactical drills ahead of Thursday’s decisive clash.

More players are expected before nightfall to complete the full list of invited stars for the fixture.

The winner between Nigeria and Gabon will progress to the African playoff final on November 16 to face either Cameroon or DR Congo.
