“₦10k for what exactly?” – Lady shares why men without money should avoid relationship

A Nigerian lady has ignited heated conversations online after sharing her strong views on dating, money, and first impressions.
According to her, men who do not have money should avoid approaching women altogether, stressing that financial capacity is non-negotiable when it comes to dating and relationships.
She argued that a first date should reflect seriousness, insisting that where a man takes a woman determines whether she would even consider building a relationship with him.
“If you don’t have money as a man, stay away from a woman. We need money for maintenance,” she said.
The lady went on to mock men who invite women out only to take them to fast-food restaurants, questioning the logic behind spending just ₦10,000 on a first date.
She described such spending as a major red flag, adding that it reflects a lack of readiness for commitment.
“Why will a man spend ₦10k on a first date? That is not a red flag, that’s a red sea. Imagine asking me out and taking me to Chicken Republic,” she added.
Her comments have since divided social media users, sparking intense debates across platforms.
Reacting to her statement, one user wrote, “Some of you don’t want love, you want sponsorship.” Another commented, “Dating is not charity. If you don’t have money, focus on yourself first.”
As the debate continues online, the video has left many Nigerians questioning whether modern dating has become more about money than genuine connection.
