The Peter Dedevbo led Falconets made a mauling of their Sierra Leonian counterpart in a match played at the Abuja National Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Falconets whitewash their counterparts 10-0 in a highly entertaining and fun filled match. A match played right in front of a filled stadium saw Halimat Ayinde open score just after 10 minutes.
The pace was fast and the Falconet’s opponents couldn’t catch up as Chidinma Edeji made it 2-0 and Uchechi Sunday who came in for an injured player scored a brace to make it 4-0 before Ayinde made it 5-0 to end the first half.
The Falconets were determined to complement their first half performance immediately in the second half when Sunday completed her hat-trick on the 55th minute to make it 6-0. Sunday made it 7-0 while Edeji, Patience Okaeme and Sunday sealed off the match scoring the eighth, nineth and the tenth goal sequentially.
Sierra Leone’s head coach Abdulai Bah said he’s not surprised about his team’s loss since this will be their first international test away from home.
The second leg of the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup which will take place in Canada next year will be held in Sierra Leone later this year.
