The Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service on Monday said it intercepted a Mack truck along the Mile 2 Apapa Road containing 49 boxes of pump-action rifles.

The manifest that followed the truck stated that it carried still doors, before the customs officials discovered otherwise.

The Comptroller-General of the NCS, Col. Hameed Ali, said investigations were ongoing, adding that some suspects had been arrested.

  1. May we know the name of the importer? I presume the consignment has a bill of lading that clearly identifies him/her?

  5. Kudos to Nigerian Customs under the able leadership of Col Hameed Ali (Rtd). A job well done! However the work of this journalist and his editors leaves a lot to be desired. In this day and age, a little research will go a long way to stop misinformation of readers. A rifle (NOT spelt riffle) is a totally different kind of firearm from a shotgun, which is entirely what this cache of firearms is made up of. Rifles like the AK have long, spiraling, grooved barrels for firing high velocity bullets while shotguns fire multiple slower projectiles or a single slug from a cartridge.

  6. They should trace the source of this cargo and destination, the clearing agent and his client. This is far becoming alarming, I guess this came thru apapa seaport and no one saw it?. Hmm May God help us oh.

  7. This is all you can hear,no further investigation, no further findings it will soon be silenced,God avenge your people.

  8. Them for allow them nah. Let see if they want to use the guns to fight on our behalf. (Brain war in the country).
