Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has come under serious criticism all because he said he wants to personally call and encourage Olympic rower, Chierika Ukogu.
The drama started when the Bayelsa lawmaker tweeted a congratulatory message at Ukogu. “Chierika, @cukogu , I am very proud of you,” he said, before adding, “If anyone has her number, I’d like to call her to encourage her #Rio2016”

While many Nigerians found the tweet laudable, some called him out, asking what his true intent is, and especially why he singled out Ukogu who crowdfunded her trip to the Olympics.
Recall that yesterday, Nigerians sent kind messages to the American-born Nigerian rower after she qualified for the semi-finals of the Women’s Single Sculls Rowing event at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
And so, when Murray-Bruce joined in the praise-singing by going extra with the phone number request, it raised a few eyebrows.
