UCL: Onana’s dramatic stop give Manchester United first win in ‘Group A’

Manchester United secured a 1-0 victory over Copenhagen, with Andre Onana stealing the show with late penalty save at Old Trafford.

United captain, Harry Maguire, found the back of the net in the 72nd minute, to give his side the lead.

However, the real drama unfolded in the seventh minute of injury time. Substitute Jordan Larsson, son of former United striker Henrik Larsson, was handed a penalty opportunity to level the score.

But Manchester United’s often-criticized goalkeeper Andre Onana, kept it away with his stunning save.

Maguire, who had faced uncertainty about his future at the club, proved his worth with the crucial goal.

Despite being linked with a move away from Manchester United in the past, he undoubtedly, has given the Red Devils fans his response in his last two games.

The goal happened when Christian Eriksen who came on as a halftime substitute, delivered a cross from the right flank.

Maguire’s outmatched his opponent, Rasmus Falk, and he headed the ball past the goalkeeper to secure the lead.

He celebrated the goal by forming a heart shape with his hands and kissing the club badge on his shirt, probably a sign to show his love for United fans, even with their criticisms.

Until tonight’s game, Manchester United have faced two opening defeats. They are now third in Group A, behind group leader Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
