Newcastle rescued by Ritchie to draw 2-2 against Bournemouth

Newcastle United’s Matt Ritchie emerged as the unlikely hero with last-gasp to secure a 2-2 draw against former club Bournemouth.

Ritchie’s goal, his first since July 2020, came from a deflected shot after nodding back across goal, leveling the score after Newcastle fell behind.

The draw, continued to show Newcastle’s struggles at home, with just two points from their last four games at St James’ Park.

Despite Anthony Gordon’s penalty equalizer, Newcastle’s defensive issues were exposed again, with Dan Burn notably struggling.

Newcastle had chances to take the lead, with Miguel Almiron and Gordon missing opportunities.

However, it was Semenyo who restored Bournemouth’s lead with a well-taken strike.
