I will work day and night for you – Tinubu assures Nigerians following victory in presidential election

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has assured Nigerians that he will work fiercely to make the country better for all, especially the youths.

The former Lagos governor disclosed this after he was presented with the certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.

“To you, the people, especially the youths, I will work day and night. I will work to the utmost of my ability to make Nigeria better,” Tinubu said.

This is coming shortly after Tinubu was declared the winner of Saturday’s presidential election by the chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu.

Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, winning 12 of 36 states in Nigeria. Mr Abubakar polled 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party, came third, polling 6,101,533 votes.

His win has however faced massive protests by the opposition PDP and Labour Party, who have continued to call for the suspension of result collation and outright cancellation of the presidential poll due to INEC’s failure to upload election results on its server in real-time.
