Andre Onana dropped as Cameroon face must-win AFCON clash against Gambia

Manchester United goalie Andre Onana has been dropped from the starting lineup for Cameroon’s crucial clash against Gambia.

Cameroon needs a win to keep their hopes in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alive, while relying on Senegal to defeat Guinea.

Cameroon’s manager Rigobert Song, has opted to start Fabrice Ondoa, Onana’s cousin, in goal instead.

This decision comes after Cameroon’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Senegal, where all three shots on target against Onana found the back of the net, including a late goal by Sadio Mane.

Onana’s journey to AFCON was also unbridled, as he arrived late due to a Premier League match commitment with Manchester United.

His delayed arrival and subsequent performance have raised questions about his inclusion in the squad.

Cameroon’s campaign in the tournament has been short of expectation, with a draw against Guinea and the recent loss to Senegal leaving them with just one point from two games.
