After 11 years of childlessness, woman gives birth months after allowing husband to marry second wife

A woman, Jane Kirui and her husband, Mwalimu Wesley Kiplagat are celebrating the arrival of their long-awaited bundle of joy, baby Natalie Jelimo, after 11 years of childlessness.

The couple’s journey to parenthood was marked by 11 agonizing years of hope, disappointment, and determination.

We got married in 2012, and she later went to college. After coming back, we started looking for a baby, but she never got pregnant,” Kiplagat said.

Despite the challenges, Kiplagat’s unwavering support for his wife remained steadfast.

“After some time, people started calling her barren, and she became a laughing stock in the area. My support for her never wavered; we are best friends,” Kiplgat told Kenyan widely read media TUKO. co.ke in an interview.

Together, they embarked on a relentless quest to conceive, seeking assistance from various hospitals, including the reputable Tenwek Hospital in Bomet County.

At Tenwek Hospital, Jane underwent an ultrasound and a series of tests, which, unfortunately, confirmed their worst fears – she was unable to conceive.

Disheartened but undeterred, the couple turned to traditional treatments in the hope of a miracle.

During their arduous journey, they eventually met a new doctor in the area, and Kiplagat proposed they consult him, even as his wife initially remained skeptical.

“She even thought that I did not want to take her to the big hospitals anymore,” Kiplagat revealed.

With previous medical reports in hand, they visited the small clinic of the new doctor, who offered them a glimmer of hope.

He told us he treats, but it is God who heals; my wife was given an injection as part of her treatment, and she started vomiting,” Kiplagat recounted.

“During the New Year worship service at African Gospel Church, we prayed and our pastor said we place the matter before God,” shared Kiplagat.

My wife later complained of feeling unwell and we later discovered she was pregnant. I named the baby Natalie after my favourite student in school.”

The story doesn’t end here; in June 2023, the couple welcomed their second child, a baby boy.

This time, Jane asked Kiplagat to marry another wife, as she wasn’t falling pregnant.

“Initially, they lived in the same house since I had not built a house for the younger wife,” Kiplagat explained.

“God’s time is the best; I am very happy; very grateful to God because we have been looking for a child for a very long time,” he said.
