Super Eagles’ star Boniface named Bundesliga ‘Rookie of the Season’

Bayer Leverkusen and Super Eagles star Victor Boniface has been named the German Bundesliga Rookie of the Season.

He outshined RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, Borussia Dortmund’s Ian Maatsen, and Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier for the prestigious award.

Boniface, 23, clinched the Rookie of the Month titles for August, September, October, and November.

However, his impressive early season form was cut short by injury, causing him to miss much of the latter part of the campaign, spanning from December to April.

Despite the setback, he recorded 13 goals and eight assists in 22 games during his debut Bundesliga season with the German Champions.

Boniface’s early contributions were vital, setting the foundation for Leverkusen’s current position as they aim for a treble and an unbeaten campaign.

His impact points to the potential heights he might have reached if not for the injury disruptions.
